Why we care so much!
As Baby Boomers with children who are getting older you finally think it’s time to relax and unwind, and then, before you know it you’re a grandparent, or god forbid a great-grandparent and it’s a whole new paradigm. Being parents can be one of the most rewarding experiences of our lives with the ups and downs, the highs and lows, the gratitude and disappointments, it is all meaningful and life experiencing.
Then you become a grandparent and you think initially (or you might) here we go again but in reality it is so different. These little human beings remind us of yesteryear and older times. We aren’t limited to little humans either. For some of us fur babies are just as important – and you know what – that’s ok too. Before you know it your heart’s open again.
Once upon a time fur babies used to be assigned to the backyard, then the laundry, then in a cage in the seating area and now with the run of the house, the bed, and every inch of space we take up. We love them, they comfort us and as you look into their eyes you see true devotion.
So, of course, regardless of what our grand babies are we want to spoil them, and we appreciate the unconditional love we get in return. We often want to reward their parents (your children who are now adults themselves) for bringing the next generation of joy into our lives too.
That’s how we at Tailor Made Gifts feel anyway. We’ve had experience looking for the perfect gift for the little ones. Luckily we both come from a tech background so navigating the web, search engines, online shopping carts, and relief or disappointment at the quality of what we’ve purchased online is second nature to us. But we know that same skill set is less common in baby boomers.
Your writer has a big extended family. My own family is my son and I, which has grown within 4 years to include a beautiful daughter-in-law and two beautiful grandsons. Then I have my dog Zeus and my family’s dog Winnie, so we’ve grown in size. My colleague has a similar family configuration with a wonderful partner, a son and daughter-in-law, no grandkids yet but fur babies.

The kids page can include combinations of manchester, toys, books, and keepsakes. We say the word “can” because we’ll refresh item options as we investigate more so what is promoted can change over time.
The adults page has a combination of clothing, books, keepsakes, and accessories and a variety of items suitable for Defence Force personnel in respect of their service.
The pets page shows toys, personalised bowls, leads, collars, clothes, leashes things we like our pets to received that shows we love them.
The occasions page will be seasonal as well as items for special occasions – I won’t list them all but we’ll include birthdays, weddings, Easter, Christmas, Mother’s and Father’s Day, etc.
